Q: What was elephant doing when came Napoleon?
A: It is Russian joke came from the fact that word "Napoleon" sounds like Russian words "na pole on" = "he is in the field". So this question has two senses
1) what was doing elephant when Napoleon came? - no answer
2) what was doing elephant when he came to field (meadow)? - and the answer is "he was eating grass"
That's why when Napoleon came, elephant was eating grass :)
