About Karen...

I am happy to get any card. I will tell you a little about me so that it may inspire you about a common interest.

I was born and raised in NY NY and now live in suburban Rockland County (12 miles north and west of the city). I love everything connected to the 5 boroughs. I am interested in knowing more about what your favorite city is (and why). I love NY because it is vibrant. It has theater, art, sports, shopping, libraries, parks, beaches, museums, universities, culture, and diversity.

I love dogs (hence the user name Doxie-Mom), I'd like to know what your favorite breed of dog is. My favorite breed is a dachshund.
Our family has always traveled with our dogs- and from now on, I plan to collect many interesting postcards to send out. Do you have a dog? Do you travel with your dog? Where?

I love cooking, baking (and eating). I'd love to get information about what you had for lunch! Or, where you like to go out to eat. Or what your favorite foods are. Feel free to share a recipe with me!.

I am a fiber fanatic. I love to knit, crochet, and felt. I like to visit the sheep and wool festivals. Anything sheep related is good to me! This year I have fiber goals: to learn to make socks, to complete my double knitted scarf, a baby blanket for my nephew, a hat, and to finish another "Hitchhiker" shawl in time for the Rhinebeck sheep and wool festival (in 2021??). I'm interested in learning about your fiber goals.

I like jokes although I realize that they sometimes do not translate well. For example, my daughter told me not to open e-mails from Hormel Foods because they might contain SPAM (ahem).

Finally- my husband and I love to fish. We enjoy fly fishing in the beautiful Catskill Mts. of NY and spin casting (with ultralight equipment). Any postcards that are fishing related would be interesting to me. What's the best "fish story" you'd like to share?

For 2020 ANY cards will be a good distraction from our COVID-19 stay-at-home year and all the crazy things going on in the world.

For 2019 it was "fun" to get themed cards:
January- museums, pysanka, football, chili recipes, mittens
February- pigs (2019 was the year of the pig), crockpot meals, rum drinks, groundhogs, socks
March-pies, mushrooms, RVs, pussy willows, Irish food, hats
April- lambs, trout, cherry blossoms, earth day, afghans
May- Star wars, Mexican food, commencements, gardens, shawls, fishing
June- Roses, Greek food, stars, pools, bags, music
July- Drive-ins, Shakespeare, concerts, fireworks, blueberries, gardens
August- beaches, tomatoes, camping, lobsters, mini-golf, baseball, scarfs
September- apples, knitting, books, soups, dog sweaters
October- pumpkins, cemeteries, Halloween, foliage, brooms, migrating birds, buntings
November- Cities, sweaters, parades, corn, bonfires, acorns, deviled eggs, turkeys, bears
December- Christmas trees, trains, lights, cocoa, toys, stores, dogs
