Hello Postcrossers all over this great big wonderful world!
I'm retired, and I love it! It's the best thing I ever got paid to do!
I volunteer at the American Red Cross blood donation center. If you are eligible, please donate blood. Blood donors are needed every day to save the lives of patients who depend on the generosity of volunteer donors.
➳reading─non-fiction, historical fiction, history, fiction─I belong to three book clubs
➳puttering around the house or in the yard
➳traveling─visiting new places and re-visiting places I've already been
Learning about different people and cultures is fascinating. Writing space on a postcard is limited so if you are at a loss for what to write, tell me:
►your life story in six words (Mine is: Retired, I do what I want!)
►What you wanted to be when you grew up when you were 7 years old
►What makes you laugh the most
►What do you like to do in your spare time?
►The kindest thing you ever did for a stranger
►Something that cheers you up without fail
►Your favorite quote
►What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
►Where do you plan on going for your next vacation?
►What you do to make the world a better place
►If you could meet anyone in history, who would it be?
or tell me about your city or country:
►A little-known fact about your city or country
►Your favorite place in your city that you take someone who's visiting for the first time
It makes my husband and me happy to receive postcards from people all over the world and we thank each and every one of you who takes the time to send us a postcard.
We're happy with
☼ touristy or non-touristy store-bought postcard
☼handmade postcards are welcome--we've gotten some beautiful watercolor postcards that I've framed.
☼USA state map postcard or your country's map postcard
☼a Red Cross postcard from your country
Your country has some beautiful stamps and we like receiving real postage stamps instead of metered mail. I'll put a variety of USA stamps on the postcard I send you if you ask for them in your profile.
Several times a year I cut the stamps off the postcards that I receive and send them to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Stamp Ministry, 407 Bertrand Hall, Notre Dame, Indiana 46556 USA. They sell the stamps to collectors and use the money to help girls get an education in eight countries on four continents.
If you include your username I can read your profile before registering your postcard and sending you a thank you
