About Deirdre...

I'm known by my friends as the 'Postcard Queen' as I love to send and receive postcards! I especially like postcards with hearts on them as I used to have a heart collection. I also like postcards of the sea, lakes, mountains, flowers and cats!!

For the last few years I've been involved with a project called POSTCARDS OF KINDNESS. It's so worthwhile. People like me send postcards to Residents in Care Homes. Apparently it's made a huge difference to the Residents. You might like to look into where your nearest Care Home is and adopt them!

I lived overseas in Canada (Montreal/Toronto) for 13 years and then spent 5 years living in Paris before returning to the UK - I've been back here for over 30 years. I was a primary school teacher in London and also in Montreal and latterly I worked as a Personal Assistant for a major drinks company but decided to semi-retire in April 2010.

About 10 years ago I qualified as a Holistic Massage Therapist and I really enjoyed giving treatments such as Reiki and Indian Head Massage. I used to volunteer at a Hospice and give people who attended the Day Care Centre complementary therapy treatments. It' was so very rewarding to spend time with these ladies. Sadly due to the Covid virus the Day Centre closed temporarily and for various reasons I didn't manage to go back. .

20 years ago I decided to pursue singing as a hobby. Initially I joined one of London's biggest choirs (over 300 members)and every year in November they performed at the Royal Albert Hall - which is such an exciting venue. I then decided to do something very different and joined a 'Jazz Choir' for 2 terms and that was fun too. Several years ago I finally got to sing The Messiah at a wonderful venue - St. Albans Abbey. I now sing with Harrow Choral Society and our Christmas concert is always in the Speech Room at the famous Harrow school. I also enjoy going to the theatre, movies, concerts and just being out and about with friends.

I'd love to hear from you and all about where you live. Like so many of us I love travelling to see new places .VIsitihg friends in Canada and France is often top of my list.

Please remember to put the date on your postcard before you send it. If possible please don't send me free/publicity postcards - thank you.

Happy Postcrossing!

Deirdre (The Postcard Queen!!)
