I live in the greater Newcastle area, north of Sydney, Australia. I have three adult children and six grandchildren. Retiring in late 2020, I'm still getting used to it! I’m a keen photographer and a Christian who loves to take photos of Creation.
I have been a postcard collector forever. On my "favourites" page are postcards I’d like to receive. I'm amazed at the variety out there. I love variety! I’m a tad envious of those of you who receive cards in five days! It takes SO long to and from Australia.
My interests - in no particular order.
Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee and funeral and memorial events, naive art, art [no nudes], royalty, JFK, Jackie Kennedy, lighthouses, Store/shop fronts, transport [buses, planes, trains, old cars], railway viaducts, black and white (photography), street photography, vintage ads, weddings, Art deco architecture, autumn scenes. Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, cormorant fishing [China/Japan], Belted Galloway’s and highland cows! Cool winter scenes to counteract our hot summer! Maxicards. European Christmas Markets. Lego builds. Princess Grace of Monaco.
Art by Megan Hess, Norman Rockwell, Sam Toft, V. Nagornov, Joseph Lada, Minna Immonen, Andrew Murray, Morgan Dennis, Grandma Moses, Polly Winkler Mitchell, Martin Wiscombe, Lisi Martin, Colette Brunelier, Leonid Afremov, Alexey Dolotov, Victoria Kirdy, Marjolein Bastin, Martta Wendelin, Keith Kimberlin, Robert Duncan, Dieter Braun, Gapchinska, Irina Zeniuk - Or almost anyone! Photographers: Ansel Adams, David Moore, Robert Doisneau, Dorothea Lange, Bill Cunningham
Angry Birds, Paddington Bear. I like classy homemade postcards
Christmas is in summer here and usually, but not always, it’s HOT!
Please, no folded cards or letters. I'd really appreciate it if you'd not put stickers etc over the description on the back, thank you. Please, no ‘cold’ direct swaps.
Definitely NO nudity, or erotica, please. Nor Harry Potter, Star Wars, fantasy, mythology, horoscopes, Halloween, Freemasonry or dinosaurs. I've never liked fantasy. I prefer a postcard depicting your beautiful country than a card from some other country. I prefer them not to be folded or in an envelope, please, so long as that's ok with you. [The stamps are very interesting and I like them to be on the postcard, tho I'm not a collector as such.] I'm not so keen on flowers, covers of books or multiple tiny tourist views.
Expired cards? Too many. Sadly. [I don't register a card you haven't received.]
It's disappointing that Australia Post keep putting the postage rate up. I apologise for not always meeting your request for attached stamps.
I enjoy Postcrossing & have learnt many things from the postcards I've received (and the info I write to you!) Thank you for taking the time to pick a special card (and stamps) for me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness very much. Your cards cheer my day. May our postcards arrive, eventually!
This too, will pass for the best is yet to come.
