About Dorothy...

I live in the greater Newcastle area, north of Sydney, Australia. I have three adult children and six delightful grandchildren. I work in aged care, serving meals to the residents, and washing dishes, now transitioning to retirement! I’m a keen photographer and a Christian who loves to take photos of Creation.

I have been a postcard collector since I was very young. On my "favourites" page are postcards I’d like to receive. I'm amazed at the variety out there. Please check my received cards from your country. I’m a tad envious of those of you who receive cards in three days! It takes SO long to and from Australia.

My interests - in no particular order.

naive art, art [not nudes], royalty, US presidents (yes, Trump), JFK and Jackie Kennedy, teapots, lighthouses, Store/shop fronts, transport [mostly planes, trains], cathedrals/churches, black and white (photography), vintage ads, weddings, covered bridges, US Sate Capitol buildings & Colourful autumn scenes. [If you are from Denmark and are able to send a postcard with Princess Mary or any of the Royal Family, I would LOVE it! Thanks) Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, meerkats, Belted Galloway’s and highland cows!

Art by Norman Rockwell, V. Nagornov, Minna Immonen, Andrew Murray, Grandma Moses,Polly Winkler Mitchell, Martin Wiscombe, Lisi Martin, Colette Brunelier, Leonid Afremov, Marjolein Bastin, Martta Wendelin, Keith Kimberlin, Robert Duncan, Jolinne, Gapchinska, Irina Zeniuk - Or almost anyone! Photographers: Ansel Adams, David Moore etc.

Angry Birds, Peter Rabbit, Paddington Bear, Thomas the Tank

Favourite colours: blue and white as in 'Delft', red and white.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, Fourth of July cards are welcome too. Christmas is in summer here.

Please, no folded cards or letters. I'd really appreciate it if you'd refrain from putting stickers over the description on the back. Thank you.

Definitely NO nudity of any kind, or erotica, please. Nor Harry Potter, Star Wars etc, fantasy, mythology, horoscopes, Halloween, Freemasonry or dinosaurs! I've never liked fantasy. I prefer them not to be homemade. I'd much rather receive a postcard depicting your beautiful country than a card from some other country. I prefer them not to be folded or in an envelope. [The stamps are very interesting and I like them to be on the postcard.] And I'm not so keen on covers of books, the exception being children’s books.

Expired cards? Too many. Sadly. [I don't register a card you haven't received.]

It's disappointing that Australia Post keep putting the postage rate up. I apologise for not always meeting your request for attached stamps. The cost is outrageous.

I enjoy Postcrossing & have learnt many things from the postcards I've received (and the info I write to you!) Thank you for taking the time to pick a special card (and stamps) for me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness very much. Take care in 2019. The best is yet to come.
