I live in the greater Newcastle area, north of Sydney, Australia. I have three adult children and six grandchildren. My job in aged care recently disappeared so now I’m retired! I’m a keen photographer and a Christian who loves to take photos of Creation.
I have been a postcard collector forever. On my "favourites" page are postcards I’d like to receive. I'm amazed at the variety out there. I love variety! I’m a tad envious of those of you who receive cards in three days! It takes SO long to and from Australia, especially now as many planes are still grounded.
My interests - in no particular order.
naive art, art [not nudes], royalty, JFK and Jackie Kennedy, lighthouses, Store/shop fronts, transport [buses, planes, trains, old cars], black and white (photography), street photography, vintage ads, weddings, Artdeco architecture, storks, white swans (ours are black), autumn scenes. Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, cormorant fishing [China/Japan], Belted Galloway’s and highland cows! Cool winter scenes to counteract our hot summer!
Art by Megan Hess, Norman Rockwell, Sam Toft, V. Nagornov, Minna Immonen, Andrew Murray, Morgan Dennis, Grandma Moses,Polly Winkler Mitchell, Martin Wiscombe, Lisi Martin, Colette Brunelier, Leonid Afremov, Alexey Dolotov (cute cats), Victoria Kirdy, Marjolein Bastin, Martta Wendelin, Keith Kimberlin, Robert Duncan, Dieter Braun, Gapchinska, Irina Zeniuk - Or almost anyone! Photographers: Ansel Adams, David Moore, Robert Doisneau
Angry Birds, Paddington Bear
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, Fourth of July cards are welcome too. Christmas is in summer here.
Please, no folded cards or letters. I'd really appreciate it if you'd refrain from putting stickers etc over the description on the back, thank you. Please, no ‘cold’ direct swaps.
Definitely NO nudity of any kind, or erotica, please. Nor Harry Potter, Star Wars etc, fantasy, mythology, horoscopes, Halloween, Freemasonry or dinosaurs! I've never liked fantasy. I like classy homemade postcards. I'd much rather receive a postcard depicting your beautiful country than a card from some other country. I prefer them not to be folded or in an envelope, please, so long as that's ok with you. [The stamps are very interesting and I like them to be on the postcard, tho I'm not a collector as such.] I'm not so keen on covers of books, meet up cards or multiple tiny tourist views.
Expired cards? Too many. Sadly. [I don't register a card you haven't received.]
It's disappointing that Australia Post keep putting the postage rate up. I apologise for not always meeting your request for attached stamps. The cost is outrageous.
I enjoy Postcrossing & have learnt many things from the postcards I've received (and the info I write to you!) Thank you for taking the time to pick a special card (and stamps) for me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness very much. May our postcards arrive, eventually!
This too, will pass for the best is yet to come.
