About Dawn...
I love to read and learn new things. I spent many years as an editor, page designer and freelance writer for different newspapers. I was also a tutor, teacher, and children's librarian. In more recent years, I worked for a museum, as a tour guide for a historic 1893 Victorian mansion.
In January 2020, I had major brain surgery to remove part of a large brain tumor. After writing several guest columns for my local newspaper about my surgery/struggle to recover experiences, I went back to work as a night editor at the same newspaper, until I was laid off on June 1, 2023.
What kind of postcards do I like? I love them all, including the unusual and random cards. And thank you very much in advance! But if you need a few ideas:
• After having countless MRIs, I discovered I'm fascinated and delighted by skulls (I'd love to have any postcards with skulls and/or brains - and I'm interested in and intrigued by death personified, also).
• I love the sky and machines (and birds) that fly.
• I like Banksy and street art.
• I read nonstop. I love libraries, new and used bookshops, cats, kids or any kind of people with books. Music has also played a huge role in my recovery from brain surgery.
• I'm a bit of a nut about coffee (and collect mugs). I also have a wicked sweet tooth, so anything related to desserts (or how to make them) is a real treat.
• I love all kinds of animals and currently have a black rescue cat named Cola. I enjoy nature (trees! flowers! any kind of rivers, streams, oceans!) and when I'm stressed, a good walk around the local park or reservoir helps to refresh and cheer me.
