I'm an art student making a little project for 80th Anniversary of Transatlantic Flight of Darius and Girėnas.
I'm very happy that there is a place for conecting with people through real post :) So, I want to share with everybody and spread a word about the Heroic Transatlantic Flight of Darius and Girėnas. This year it's 80th Anniversary.

...80 years ago on July 15(1933)Steponas Darius and Stasys Girenas started a flight from New York to Kaunas (Lithuania) carrying mail from lithuanians living in U.S.A. to their beloved families, relatives, friends back to homeland - Lithuania. Their plane was called "Lituanica" (Lithuania in Latin). They successfully crossed the Atlantic (covering a distance of 6,411 km without landing, in 37 h and 11min). Unfortunetly, because of terrible weather conditions, trying to make emergency landing, plane crashed in woods near Kuhdamm village, Germany (now Pszczelnik, Poland)... only 636 km were left to their goal — Kaunas. All Lithuania waited for Darius and Girenas with Lituanica to show up in the sky. On July 17 people gathered in Kaunas airport and stood in rain hoping to see them... The sad news about the brave hearts tragedy crossed fastly on the same day.

So, this is a short version of this beautiful story. And with my own postcards I will spread this story too :)
