About Charmaine...

Hallo/Howzit/Dumela/Unjani/Sawubona/Aweh (saying hello in some of our african languages)

19 April 2023: Our Postal system is a bit slow at the moment. If your card is travelling more than 60 days to me, please let me know and I will register it (sorry about that)

I have a special place in my heart for my country and its history. Love reading about wars, how people coped, the willingness to survive and then always counting my blessings that we do have it much easier. I absolutely love dogs.

I love buying the kind of stuff (antiques) that shows:
"Grandma Had It
Mom Threw it Out
I Bought It Back :-)

These are a few of my favourite things:

✿ Unique and unusual postcards
✿ Frida Kahlo
✿ Hands
✿ Illustrated animals (especially dogs (Giant Schnauzer)
✿ The Blue Cats (by Irina Zenyuk), not a huge fan of cat photo's but
some funny illustrations are great
✿ Charlie Chaplin
✿ People/couples dancing
✿ Black & white photo's, but if possible no black and white landscapes
✿ Anything that is interesting, colourful or just funny (in a nice way
please).
✿ All creative people out there can send me a handmade card

# Please write on the card, no need to use an envelope
# I would love for you to tell me a little bit about yourself.
# Please share a memory with me -something that just happened/ or from long ago.
# If you still don't know what to write, I would be interested to hear about your favourite book, your dreams, a secret or your favourite quote.
# Please tell me about the most beautiful place that you can recommend to visit in your country

♥Africa♥
When you have acquired a taste for the dust,
and the scent of our first rain,
You’re hooked for life on Africa,
And you’ll not be right again.
Until you can watch the setting moon
and hear the jackals bark,
And know they are around you
waiting in the dark.
When you long to see the elephants
or hear the coucal’s song,
When the moonrise sets your blood on fire,
then you’ve been away too long.
It is time to cut the traces loose,
and let your heart go free,
Beyond that far horizon
where your spirit yearns to be.
Africa is waiting – come!
Since you have touched the open sky
And learned to love the rustling grass
and the wild fish eagle’s cry.
You’ll always hunger for the bush;
for the lion’s rasping roar,
To camp at last beneath the stars
And to be at peace once more.

Thank you – Baie dankie (Afrikaans)
(famously pronounced “buy a donkey”)

Charmaine
