About Carl...

We live in El Paso, TX, in the beautiful desert southwest, very near the border with Mexico, making our location romantic and intriguing, and are fortunate to experience the mix of cultures and languages from both nations. My profession is science research and education. I have had students from around the world. My wife is also in education. We have three children & seven grandchildren. We recently lost our beautiful Shetland sheepdog, "Tooner", after nearly 15 years ;-(

El Paso TX. / Ciudad Juarez, Mexico is a fast growing international community. For the 7th year, El Paso is the safest city our size in the USA. El Paso sits in the pass between mountain ranges in Texas and Mexico, elevation about 4000 ft., is dry and hot in the Summer. We have nearby attractions such as White Sands, Big Bend, and Carlsbad Caverns. A 30 minute drive takes one from major city into wilderness.

I am on and off with postcrossing due to professional commitments, but I always register even if a card arrives when I am inactive.

I am interested in postal history of postcards, and collected since 1958. The whole postcard - picture, message, addressee, variety, topic & history of the stamps, postmark cancels - fascinates me.

I may not have exactly what you would most like, but will do my best to select the closest to your preferences. Attractive holiday postcards are very hard to find, and I see much nicer ones from other nations than I can find in the USA.

I am eclectic in interests, and all postcards fascinate me, so, you don't have to worry about disappointing me, but, if you want ideas, I might like scenic pictures of your nation, city, streets, transportation (trains, buses, ships), maps (your nation, province, city, train/bus routes), people, local customs/dress/art, old buildings, archaeology, monuments, military history, ancient or historic sites, harbor views, Shetland sheepdogs :-) , square or irregularly shaped (perhaps the shape of your nation, province, city) or unusual size, MAXI cards, fantasy, vintage, holiday, historic people or myths of your nation, pinup, or just everyday life. Don't worry, If you really aren't sure what to send, it would be nice to appreciate what you like.

If you are from a rare Postcrossing country, then preferably a card having to do with your nation, city, history, geography, culture, architecture, scenic, people, so I can learn more about a place I may likely never visit.

I also very much enjoy multiple different stamps, if that is possible. If stamps are accessible to you, I prefer real stamps, not postal metered. If your nation issues a Postcrossing stamp, I would love that.

I prefer cards not in an envelope. However, I know some Postcrossers are concerned about privacy or postal delivery conditions, so, if you think an envelope is wise or preferable, that is OK.

Tell me about yourself, region, perhaps why you chose the card.

I always register the day received
