About Charlie...

Revised

Greetings,

When I was much younger, I used to collect stamps. Postcrossing (PC) feels a little like I might be headed back in that direction. I do PC because I feel that given this crazy world, writing greetings to a person unknown thousands of miles away is a unique way to reach out and offer peace to my new PC friends who might be similarly inclined. Together we work towards peace in this world, one person at a time.

I live in the largest city in one of the smallest states in the United States. The city is Burlington and the state is Vermont. If you look this up on a map, Vermont is tucked up in the upper right (Northeast) corner. Burlington is located on a large, beautiful lake named after its white founder, Lake Champlain.
Indigenous peoples lived here thousands of years before Champlain arrived with his weapons and diseases. Today, Vermont remains rural. We have many small farms, mostly dairy. The organic movement is big in Vermont and we have many organic farms for a state our size.

I recently retired from a career of mostly university teaching. Before that, I played American football for 8 years, camped quite a bit, and taught middle school history/social studies. Now, I love a good, rich, inexpensive red wine and take lots of photographs, some of which I use for my postcards. I am married and have eight delightful grandchildren. This is my first year in my 80s (elderhood). I will try to keep changing things up as I move through these next years. PC is one way I want to keep young - expanding my social connections.

Can't wait to hear from YOU! If you want a suggestion of postcard topics, photos of your town/city/area that you live in, current or historical, would be great.

Warmly,
Charlie
