I live in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state, where I was raised.
I read a lot: fiction, artist biographies, natural history, and social history of America and Europe. I enjoy baking, cooking, and trying new recipes; drawing and painting botanical & nature subjects in colored pencil and watercolor; making my own sketchbooks and journals; and general papercrafts such as junk journals, mail art and postcards. If you would like a homemade postcard, just let me know!
If French is one of your languages, please write your postcard in French. Merci beaucoup!
I do not read SciFy or Fantasy, so fairies, witches, Hobbits, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Disney, or Lord of the Rings are not among my "likes." I do like Edward Gorey, Michael Sowa, and other absurdist paintings or graphics. An art postcard is always welcome. And I love homemade and handmade postcards -- so give it a try and express yourself!
I enjoy travel and learning new things about other countries. When I travel, I visit historical locations, churches, memorials & statues, museums, and artist/author birthplaces & homes. I also visit grocery stores and cemeteries, if there are interesting memorials there. So a "tourist" postcard would be welcome.
If you don't know what to write, tell me about what you like best about your country, your favorite scenery, what person you most admire in your country's history -- or anything else you think would best introduce me to your country.
Please do not put the postcard registration number along the bottom of the card -- the US Postal Service glues a bar code in that spot and I won't be able to see the number to register your card.
I look forward to hearing from you and learning about your country!
