Best-Friends

Hi there,

I live in a small provincial town in the middle of the Netherlands, but I was born in Rotterdam, a city I still like a lot. I lived all over the country and even abroad. I moved back to Holland three years ago now, after having been abroad for almost 10 years. I have lived in France for 5 years and the remaining five I spent in Wallonia = The French speaking part of Belgium.

How I met with and started to enjoy Postcrossing?

I have been a Bookcrosser (www.bookcrossing.com) for ten years now and I still love it. If you like books, you should try it! My BC screenname is 'bestfriends' because I think 'Books can be your Best Friends'. Therefore I thought it might be nice to join Postcrossing too. I have chosen (almost) the same username here, but would like to point out that it has nothing to do with Best Friends Bears!

You can write in Dutch, English, French, German and I hopefully can still read (but not write!) some Spanish too!

My taste in postcards:

I like:
- literature-related cards (pictures of (homes of-) famous authors)
- paintings/pictures of reading women
- quotes of famous authors
- sea-views
- rainbows
- local food/recipes
- funny dog drawings, not pictures!
- funny cat drawings, not pictures!
- Kaj Stenvall cards
- any 'arty' cards ('nouvelles images' - 'art unlimited')
- paintings by Monet, Degas, Renoir (Impressionists)
- vintage advertisements (nice free add cards welcome too).
- Flower Fairies

What better not to send me:
- 'cute' cards (like Hello Kitty, Ann Geddes, Best Friend Bears)
- the scrap-book kind of home-made cards. I hate those!
- plain ordinary tourist-kind of city-views in ugly bright colours!
- cards in envelopes

If you only have 'views of the city' available, then please try to find one of old buildings, churches, castles, markets etc.

However, if you can't find anything suitable (it could be difficult in your country and it happens to me too!): I'm happy with all the cards I receive and I appreciate every personal word written on them.

I myself have a box full of cards I collected over the years, because I have always loved nice postcards! Most of the time there is a card I can find in there for you guys withhout having to go buy one. But unfortnuately not always..... so I can understand if that's also the case for you! Don't worry about it. Just as long as there is a personal touch.

I do have lots and lots of 'favorites' though. Most people send me cards I do like a lot!

I myself will always try to find something special for you if you have any preferences mentioned in your profile, but it will not always be possible! Low funds etc.
