Hallo, my name is Hans-Joachim from Germany, born in the year 1951... and I dont speak so good english, but, one of my friends - John from Ireland - have translated my text:
I was born and I have lived all my life in the city of Leipzig The City was 2015 1000 years old and it is the second biggest citi in eastern germany with an population of an half a million people. The city has a wonderful history and it has contributed so much to german culture and sport. It also has huge europian history with the Battle of nations being Fought here in 1813 which saw
Napolion´s army defeated as it was retreating from Russia. The peaceful revolution here in 1989 (my wife and I - we was in this time between the difficould scenes here!) led to the end of comunism in Europe and to the reunification of Germany.
Famous names in german and even world cuture such as Bach - Mendelsohn - Wagner - and Goethe - all was one times here.
SPORT: VfB Leipzig was the first german football champion in 1913. Bevore was the beginning of the german and europian railway network begon there in 1839 with the first overland railway from Leipzig to Dresden.
For over the 850 years it was famous around the world as a trade centre and fair-city and until 1945 was one of the biggest in the old furs trade.
It has a long history in publishing and printing and was known as an old book-town.
Today Leipzig is a vibrrant city constatly deve loping ans has attrocked huge industries such as BMW and PORSCHE who both have build new factories here employing huge numbers of people as well as THE POST DHL who have made Leipzig its europian central hub and is also a huge emplöyer.
I love my city most of the time, and sometime, I hate Leipzig :-)
