Dear Postcrossers all over the world!
My name is Brigitte. I was born in 1961 and live with my husband in a small town not far away from Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Our 3 children are grown up.
In the countryside there you can find a lot of forest, meadows, cows, horses, chickens, sheeps, farmers, nice half-timbered houses. Everyone knows everyone.
Therefore I enjoy travelling to other towns and cities where I take part in sightseeing-tours, visit museums, cafés, bars and much more.
It`s great to meet my family and friends. We play board games, cards,
walk together, have barbecues and fun.
I want to learn about other customs or ways of life. It`s particulary instructive to sit in a street café, Biergarten, taverna etc. watching the life around. That`s culture.
I love sending and receiving postcards of every kind.
What I like:
Literature: Siegfried Lenz, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemmingway, Charles Dickens, L.Tolstoi, Michail Bulgakov, Meir Shalev etc.
Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Guiseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Georg Friedrich Händel, Queen, Elton John etc.
Detective stories: Inspector Barnaby, Lewis, Vera, Sherlock, Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Wallander etc.
Visiting museums is very interesting, for example modern art, history, toys, open-air museums, oldtimer etc.
Gardening is one of my favourite hobbies because I like to work outside.
It is a great pleasure to walk in parks and botanicaI gardens.
For me it`s calm and interesting to go to cemeteries. The monuments, gravestones, flowers, names and ages, epitaphs and photos "say" a little bit about the dead person.
I love spring and summer. In spring life awakes after a sleepy cold winter, the birds sing, flowers bloom, trees blossom and the outdoor swimming-pool in my town opens. I love swimming.
I love cards in black and white, maps, touristic cards, self-made cards, illustrated cards like Inga Löök`s Old Ladies, funny cards.
There are so many cards which make me smile and happy. You can choose, don`t worry.
I`m really glad to find your nice postcards in my mailbox and to read something about you and your home town.
Ich habe begonnen, Chronik-Karten zu sammeln. Sie sind sehr schön und bringen interessante Informationen über die jeweilige Stadt.
Postcrossing is an excellent project to get contact to so many fine people, I enjoy it very much.
Best wishes to all of you.
