About Nicki...

Letter writing was an old past time of mine. This hobby has diminished as the years went by and my schedule got busier. I realize after receiving several letters and postcards from old friends how much I miss this art. I came across this project after another friend posted on her Facebook that she received her 1000th postcard.

Aloha from Hawai'i, in the center of the Pacific Ocean. I live in the capital of Honolulu. I love living in a place that has beautiful weather most of the time and that I am very close to the beach and to the mountains.

I completed my master's in library and information science. I work as an archivist for a philanthropic foundation and as a preservation librarian for a historical society. I used to teach yoga, but I decided to stop so I can concentrate on my chosen profession. I enjoy learning about different cultures, being involved in social justice activities, art (I want to learn how to weave), going to the beach, hiking, doing yoga and meditation. I once was an avid traveler until I returned to school. I realize I have not gotten traveling out of my system and have travelled to the neighbor islands for work and visited New Zealand.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Just to let you know, my schedule is very busy and I apologize if I do not respond in a timely manner.

Per a suggestion from a sender of a postcard I received, here are the types of pictures on postcards I enjoy receiving (BUT ANY TYPE OF POSTCARD IS GREATLY APPRECIATED :D):

-nature (forests, mountains, beaches, the sea)
-cityscapes
-national landmarks
-buildings, especially those that have amazing architectural designs
-artwork
-local cuisine
-folkloric characters
-amusing commercial/promotional type postcards (yes, the free postcards)
-animals (I'm a cat and tortoise person but any animal will do)
-political postcards
-people (either local celebrities, entertainers, and everyday people)

You can write anything in the back. If you are having problems, here are some suggestions:
-your favorite holiday
-a proverb or quote in your own language and possibly an English translation, if possible
-your goal(s) in life
-your hobbies and/or work/job/studies
-a favorite childhood memory

Happy postcrossing.

Aloha and namaste.

P.S. Mascha from the Netherlands, I received your postcard but I am having trouble registering it (NL-2054765). It is a postcard of two people wearing helmets and riding a scooter. Please send me a message with the correct postcard ID #. Thank you.
