Hello, Dear Postcrossing Fan :)
I am a young soul (c. 20 years old) from the beautiful European country. Growing up at the time when people started giving up on sending mails or postcards and leaving this activity only for the special occasions like various holidays or birthdays made me realize that this tradition is worth keeping, and now I decided to take some actions (to be honest, this does sound a bit bureaucratic, oh well, I hope You got the point:). Receiving a postcard has always been a special moment to me and I've also loved drawing ones and then giving them away to other people... I feel postcrossing may bring me lots of unexpected experience and lovely surprises.
I'm really looking forward to getting the chance of seeing a bit of the world in Your eyes - yes, Yours, the one who's reading these lines - so please, share the moment, tell me about it, tell me the story pictured in Your postcard, tell about the moment You realized something new about Yourself or the world and what changed afterwards; tell me about Your country, its nature, most common names or the rarest ones (I've always wondered about those:)... Or you do you, I will also appreciate the surprise!
P.S. If You draw well, I would love to receive a handmade postcard:) You could also re-create some traditional ornaments of Your nation or country - I'm interested in foreign cultures and national traditional art of every kind. History, mythology are also great topics of interest.
P.P.S. I understand that sometimes You may run out of (decent) cards but please DO NOT send me free add cards or kitchy looking ones. I'm not too keen on popular culture (except for old Russian Winnie The Pooh, Le Petit Prince and also Jip and Janneke. However, there are no strict demands! :)
In case you are wondering, where to start :)
-ideas for postcards
♥ objects of art in Your country (all sorts and periods)(not necessarily the most famous ones, the opposite would be MUCH MUCH more interesting)
o of all techniques,
o genres (classic, childrens' book, fashion, cartoons...)
o and of a wide spectrum of authors (Ilon Wikland, Aubrey Beardsley, Jean-Jacques Sempé, René Gruau, Barbara Smaller, Osmo Rauhala, Rohan Eason, Philip Bannister, Emily Carew Woodard, Inge Löök, to name few);
♥ even hand-made postcards(of nice quality, if possible).
-ideas for letters
♥ Your biggest childhood dream;
♥ a story about something that happened recently;
♥ a story about Your city/country/self that is unknown by common tourists/passengers;
♥ Your favorite poem (or maybe your favorite book) and few words about how you fell for it; or maybe - oh I may just get wild on this one - maybe You'd like to tell me about your favorite book(s) by authors of your mothertongue? I would love to hear about them, too:>
♥ And last but not least. Let's say You are able to fly back time and meet Yourself 10 years ago. What would You do?
