I'm Sanne and I live in Heemskerk, a small town in the provence of North Holland in the Netherlands. It's really close to the sea and dunes, that's why I love it here. I'm 30 years old and work as an editorial designer and photographer. I also do voluntary work for an animal rescue organisation, mainly PR stuff.
As you might have seen I haven't been active here lately. I finally started working fulltime after 6 years of unvoluntary freelancing. And I have been travelling quite a bit. Finally deciding to follow my own dreams instead of always thinking about others first. It was the best thing I ever did. Giving me so many special memories and moments. And meeting so many kind, different people. It makes you realise not yet everything is lost in this beautiful world of ours. And that it's worth protecting it. October 2019 I fulfilled my childhood dream: travelling 3 weeks through Kenya and Tanzania. Photographing the magnificent Big Five and so much more ♥.
July 2019 I also had a little family expansion, adopting Loki and Thor. Two cat brothers who had been dumped as kittens in a box beside the road, together with 4 siblings. They are now 1 year old and very happy, healthy and up to lots of mischief.
Then the world suddenly became very different when Covid-19 took a hold. I found myself looking forward to start writing postcards again. Unfortunately Dutch postal services are making sending postcards an expensive hobby. So I might not be as active as I once was. Yet I still look forward to receiving new postcards and meeting you wonderful lot of people.
Need some inspiration on what to send? I love:
♥ A postcard with your local wildlife or nature. I love landscapes and wild animals in general but especially (humpback)whales, foxes, elephants and birds of prey. (my last name 'Valk' means falcon in Dutch)
♥ Postcards with cats (from housecats to tigers, lions and all other members of the cat family.)
♥ I love the ocean/sea
♥ Greetings from / (state)maps of your country.
♥ UNESCO world heritage sites.
♥ Since I'm a photographer I love postcards with photocamera's.
♥ Around my birthday (15th of november) and around Christmas I also love to receive a birthdaycard or Christmas card!
Don't know what to write? Tell me your favorite quote or words of wisdom! Or you can tip me some good books since I read a lot =)
If you speak French, German or Danish please write a few lines in your (native) language! I'm currently learning basic Danish and I speak and write French and German fairly good.
Groetjes! (Now you know how to say goodbye in Dutch)
