On October 18, 1993, 300 bison were released on The Nature Conservancy’s Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in Osage County, Oklahoma.
Over the next ten years, the herd will grow to 2000 animals on this 36,000 acre preserve. Bison, along with fire, were important forces that shaped the original tallgrass prairie.
