NEW YORK HARBOR AT DUSK: This image depicts the twinkling lights of New York Harbor and the welcoming glow of the majestic statue of liberty. The statue has served as a beacon to incoming ships since her formal dedication in 1886.

Also attached to the postcard was a trading cards of sorts, with a photo of the United Nations building in New York. - Built: 1949 - 1953
================================== The postage stamp was a United Nations stamp of ECOSOC (The Economic and Social Council) which serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to Member States and the United Nations system. The caption on the postage stamp reads "Provide free and compulsory primary education for all." A pretty cool mission. And the postmark reads UNITED for PEACE. ================================== This car was even more incredible because it came from my best friend! Thanks David! |

I'm still sorry I didn't have my Dag Hammarskjold stamp with me, I left it at home with most of my other stamps. It's not often I have the perfect use for a Dag Hammarskjold stamp! The little card was sold in a packet of 12 prints as "minipostcards" by the park service. I think I got it at Battery Park in Castle Clinton. Ryan, thanks so much for introducing me to Postcrossing! I didn't think I would ever be sending you an official card... :-) |
