A settlement since the 4th century BC, Amarante is situated in the rich agricultural lands of the Minho region. Amar is the Portuguese verb to love. The city has been part of the UNESCO under the category of City of Music since 2017.

Unique places in Amarante are convent and church of Saint Gonçalo, the imposing stone bridge and the landscape of the river with the city as scenery, the churches of Saint Pedro and Saint Domingos and the Solar dos Magalhães. |
