Birch Memorial Clock Tower at Old Town Ipoh was built in 1905 by Sir Ernest Woodford Birch in memory of his slain father James Wheeler Woodford Birch (J.W>W. Birch), who was assassinated on 1875 at the riverine settlement of Pasir Salak.
