Castle of Salignac
The Château de Salignac was an important fortress in the 12th century. It was the home of the family-Salignac Fenelon. The present castle was built between the 12th-16th centuries. The castle is classified as a historical monument. The castle overlooks the valley leading down to the Borrèze.
The original castle consisted two twin stone dungeons (twelfth century). The other buildings have been added in the thirteenth century till the fifteenth century. The castle is private property and is not open to the public.
Salignac-Eyvigues is a commune in the Dordogne department in Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is home to the fabulous gardens of the Manoir of Eyrignac.
