These crocodilian reptiles live only in southeastern USA. Adults measure 11 to 15 feet in length and they can weigh up to a thousand pounds. Alligators are apex predators. They consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Once listed as an endangered species, conservation efforts have allowed numbers to increase. The alligator is no longer threatened nor endangered. |
