About Patty...

Warm greetings from San Francisco, California! My name is Patty and I make my home in this lovely city.

Ah! Springtime is here and the cherry blossoms are now in full bloom. Alas, all too soon they will flutter down from their tree branches like pink snowflakes.

Hm, so now seems a good time to just relax and be in the present moment, soak in nature's beauty, and write some postcards!

I stumbled upon Postcrossing through micro lending through Kiva.org, and I absolutely love the concept of Postcrossing. A global bridge of friendship through postcard sharing is truly heartwarming, and this is what draws me here.

I love to learn about different countries, cultures, and people, having had the wonderful opportunity to have visited parts of Asia, Canada, and Europe. And I had the magical opportunity to explore Yelapa, Mexico this year!

Among other things, I am passionate about the arts (visual, literary, and performing arts); fascinated with non-Western medicine (such as acupuncture and herbal medicine); and smitten with beekeeping.

And I also enjoy hand canceling my postcards. The postcards I send out will have a nice clear San Francisco postmark on them. Recently, I was granted a Mailer's Postmark Permit which allows me to hand cancel my own mail. Having a Mailer’s Postmark Permit is quite unique, since it is not something many countries have.

Hm, perhaps one day I will have the good fortune to receive a postcard from Mongolia, since the vast majority of my micro lending has been to that country. For some mysterious reason, I find myself strongly drawn to Mongolia. Why? Aha! Perhaps I was a Buddhist monk in one of my previous lives!

In all seriousness, I cherish every postcard I receive. The thoughtfulness of choosing and then taking the time to send the postcard, holds the most meaning for me. And reading the words written on each postcard is quite enjoyable.

So please, just have fun and send a postcard that you feel inspired to send. Whether it is a view postcard or a weird postcard or a something in between postcard, I love them all. It is delightful to "discover" different types of postcards, and "meet" (through postcards) folks from all around the world. The element of surprise also makes this fun.

Each postcard, like each individual, is unique and interesting. Each postcard will be received with a warm heart.

Thank you so much!

Patty
San Francisco, California

Side note: I joined Postcrossing on May 25, 2011; and on May 26, 2011, I sent my first five postcards (Italy, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, and Taiwan). Then on June 6, 2011, I received my first postcard. I was so excited I screamed at the top of my lungs. You probably heard me in your country!
