About Iris...
To all Chinese users, please note that I do not read Chinese, so please write your card in English. Thank you.
Hello! I'm Iris, living in Hong Kong, China. I grew up here when Hong Kong was still a British colony. My hobbies include penpalling, paper crafts, rowing, gardening, playing with my dog, cooking and musical theatre, among others. I used to volunteer a lot my time doing backstage work for community theatre. I regularly volunteer with The Hong Kong Juvenile Diabetes Association (http://www.hkjda.org/) and Bring Me a Book, Hong Kong chapter (http://www.bringmeabook.org.hk/en/index.php). I love to read, and I am participating in an online book club that's shared by fellow postcrossers. I am currently part-time teaching conversational English in a local university. I am also continuing my MA studies and am working on my thesis.
I'm looking forward to receiving your postcard. Anything will do, but if you have a postcard related to one of the following, that would be great!
(In no particular order)
-Unique geological places from your country (ie. cliffs, rock formations, volcanoes etc)
-Interiors
-Mapcards (antique and cartoon ones are especially fantastic!)
-Mailboxes
-Steps / staircases
-Famous writers' portraits, or their places of residence
-Lighthouses
-single views
-Famous paintings/artwork, esp. Rococo, Impressionism, Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Art Noveau or Art Deco
-irises (the flower)
-interesting local architecture/buildings
-humorous cards... try me - I find a lot of random stuff funny! :P
-touristic viewcards of any sort
-anything weird or wacky! (eg. a Bunny Suicides card ;) )
-Anything related to theatre/stage shows - musicals or local shows in your area
-vintage cards (if they are fragile, please send them in an envelope) or vintage reprints
I also love stamps, so any cool stamps on the postcards are much appreciated! I love looking at them. I would prefer cards written and stamped, without an envelope. Please do not send me folded greeting cards, as those aren't postcards, and they will just go into the bin, which is an awful waste of your greeting card!
If you have trouble thinking of what to write, tell me what you see outside your window, what you love or hate the most about your city, and what your favorite "traditional" or national food is like! Thanks so much! :)
All the best, Iris
