Hello. I am Richard, 35, from the south of Scotland. I am always keen to learn a new word or phrase in a new language. I wrote my thesis for my honours degree on the survival of endangered minority and indigenous languages. Having graduated I now want to teach English abroad as a Second Language, and the first country I would like to teach English in is France. I would like to teach in other countries too.

I am a marathon runner and I enjoy running marathons throughout the world for charity. I have ran twelve of my marathons in Scotland, six in England, four in Ireland and one in Wales. Outside Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales, I have ran marathons in Quebec City, Rome, Helsinki, Barcelona and Gdansk. I have ran 30. My next one is on February 13th 2011 in Seville, Spain.

I am interested in history, religion, architecture and nature as well as many other things.

I speak several languages, in order of fluency - English, Scottish Gaelic, French, Irish Gaelic, Spanish, Italian - and also a little bit of Polish, Finnish, Hebrew, Icelandic, Welsh, Dutch, Micmac, Hindi and Gujarati.

I am pleased to receive any type of postcard. I like to have a nice surprise and feel that it would be better for the sender to choose one in their own taste !
