About Panka...

My name is Panka (as we write family names first and given names second in Hungary, just like they do in Japan for example), I'm 25, I'm a bookshop assistant, and I translate novels to Hungarian. I'm an avid figure skating fan, I enjoy watching abstract expressionist paintings, I wear mismatched socks and I've been told on more the once occasion that I'm weird.

As for postcard preferences: I love city views, special buildings of more or less famous architects (like Hundertwasser, Gaudi and especially Frank Lloyd Wright), towers, memorials, statues, windmills, old-timer ships, natural phenomena (I'm a fan of northern lights, foggy photos, wet scenery, and even non-slushy rainbows), dramatic and/or pretty scenery views, and above all I love lighthouses. I also have a thing for Antarctica and the heroic age of Antarctic expeditions (Roald Amundsen and Ernest Shackleton are my heroes). As for nature, I like squirrels and raccoons, and birds (robins, bluetits, magpies, storks, the whole lot) but I'm no fan of overcute pets or flowers. Cartoons and children's books' characters are fine too, like the Moomins, Krtek, Pettson and Findus, Pumuckle, kleinen Raben Socke.

The bottom line is, of course basicly you can send whatever you like - maybe with the only exception of art reproductions or hand-made cards. You see, I strongly believe in the superiority of photography over fine arts (except for a selected few painters like Mark Rothko or Norman Rockwell).

I like my cards stamped and written, the more you write on it, the better, and I love if the stamp hardly fits on it anymore. I love to see that the card had travelled, they have very nice "real" feel, that makes me believe that this piece of paper actually travelled all around the world, so please, spare the envelope. It may come handy another time.

And really, even though I wrote a lot, and might seem demanding and picky, I really am not, and anything pretty and nice will do :)
