About Maria...

Hello! I love books, films and art. Unfortunately, art is too expensive to collect, so I hope to receive some art in postcards. :)

Of course, whatever you send will be much appreciated. :) These are only my interests.

Favorite Art:
- Jack Vettriano, Wayne Thiebaud, Balthus, Tamara de Lempicka, J.W. Waterhouse, Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, particularly the poster reprints; any painting with a woman in it, or a woman reading, or myths, legends, literature, or scenes from books/history, esp. Judith beheading Holofernes.
- I'd also be happy to see any similar artist you like, because I am always interested in learning about new artists.
- Vintage Fashion Illustrations (Erte, Barbier, Penfield), or flappers and Gibson Girls
- Book covers, Fairy Tales, Children's Book Illustrations. I admire the illustrations of Ivan Bilibin, Edmund Dulac, Willy Pogany and Rudolf Koivu, but these are only some I know of. If you'd like to show me other illustrations from your country I'd be very happy to see them.
- anything related to Jane Austen and her novels
- illustrators/illustrations of iconic characters from your country, e.g. Belgium - smurfs,Tintin; France - Asterix and Obelix, Sweden - Pippi Longstocking, Carl Larsson; UK - Alice in Wonderland, etc.

I also love history. I would like portraits of famous people such as Ludwig II, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Rimbaud, Sisi, etc.

I'd also love to receive anything related to the films I like such as: Amelie, Breathless, Roman Holiday, Marie Antoinette, Virgin Suicides, Rushmore, The Fall, Masculin, Feminin, Le Samourai, Fight Club, Chungking Express, period films and period dramas.

I am also interested in your people and culture. I especially like to see people in costumes, or people creating native arts and crafts like weaving. I also find the distinctive architecture of your country fascinating, as well as typical street scenes.

And a last note:

I really love the messages on the cards you send to me. If you happen to have some art-related stamps, I'd be very happy to see them too. I would also prefer not to receive any handmade cards or ad cards. I like cards covered in writing, including my address, with postmarks and beautiful stamps. :) Please remember to write the date on the card. I like to know how long a card has been traveling. :) Note cards (folded cards in an envelope) are also welcome.

I'd love to know all about you--your likes and dislikes, so write me a long message. :) These are the postcards I love best. :D Be as random as you like. You can also quote a favorite poem, or a book, or recommend films, books, music. I'd also like to know about the cultural quirks/customs in your country, or stereotypes about your country, which others may find odd, funny, or weird.

I will upload all received cards. :)

Thanks for reading!
