About Daniel...

I have made footprints (or bicycle tracks) in 30+ countries on six continents - most of which happened before emails and Facebook ever existed, and in many countries even telephones were hard to come by. I've always enjoyed exploring new destinations and cultures, so sending postcards was always in my mind the very best way to share my travels with friends and family back home.

At one point in my life I studied ethnopharmacology - plant-based medicines used by traditional indigenous healers. So I have a special interest in the world of the shaman, forgotten languages and places, and I'm intrigue by symbols, riddles, and alternate belief systems. One of my favourite books is 'Illusions' by Richard Bach - there were so many quotable quotes in those pages. I've yet to climb the pyramids of Eygpt, walk the Nazca Lines, or make a snowman in the Antarctica - but someday I will.

I've also always wanted to visit the Galapagos Islands - Darwin was of course one of my academic heros. I worked as a sea kayak guide on the west coast of Canada, and in one year I spent more days sleeping in a tent than in a bed. I love the simplicity of camping - everything you own you carry with you. I enjoy the outdoors a lot - backpacking, biking, kayaking - and I also enjoy photography, especially of people and candid expressions. One of the items on my bucket list is to do something so remarkable that it's featured on the cover of National Geographic. I am a big fan of KIVA - a microfinance organization that helps people help themselves in an effort to reduce local poverty. You can learn more about them via the 'website' link above.

I look forward to receiving your post cards of any sort - stamped and post-marked. I'm pretty new at this, so I don't have any collections yet. Mostly just interested in learning a little about you and where you're from - what you're doing today, a favorite saying, story, recipe, or piece of trivia. I thank you in advance - and happy post-crossing!
