About Katherine...

Hi! I'm Katherine, a 40-something married female living in Michigan. I'm an artist by trade and a teacher by necessity (my art doesn't pay the bills). I substitute teach for the local schools, and I teach arts, music history and genealogy classes for our local Community Recreation & Education department.

Other than art, I also love researching genealogy for myself and my clients; traveling overseas and visiting art museums, antique shops, and cafes; and I REALLY love animals and hope to have my own petting zoo someday. :-)

I enjoy listening to classical music (I studied music at a small liberal arts college here in Ann Arbor), and I'm basically contemporary-music illiterate. I have NO idea who's popular these days in pop, rock, country, folk, rap, etc, but I can talk for hours about Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and Vivaldi. :) I also really enjoy classic jazz, especially the old-style vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Louis Armstrong, and artists like them.

I LOVE reading contemporary fiction, love, Love, LOVE it! One of the pleasures that hubby and I share is a love of reading before bed. I read an average of 2-3 novels a week, and I especially enjoy reading mysteries.

My favorite thing about sending & receiving postcards is the postage stamps - I LOVE to re-use postage stamps in my work. Some of my favorite postcard themes include vintage PCs (my all-time favorite), holidays, elephants, dogs, pigs and coffee. :-)

And on the flip side, I scare easily and really do not like things that might be considered scary or macabre, especially old doll faces, robots, skulls, skeletons, vampires, witches... Yeah, I'm a wimp, but I'm okay with that. :)
