I am a graduate student working on my PhD in modern Chinese literature, history, Taiwanese film, and music.

I now live in the California Bay Area with my partner and our dog, a shiba inu. Before this, I lived in Taiwan for three years. Before THAT, I lived in Michigan and other parts of the American Midwest. I've lived in many places, but my heart belongs to Taipei, where I was born. I miss it every day.

I collect aerial view city postcards and postcards of universities and colleges. I also like old things... visual iconography from the 1960's and before. But most any mail is nice. I'm not picky, although I prefer postcards *without* envelopes. I like having the postage, the datestamp and the wear and tear of travel right on the card itself.

I like personal stories. Feel free to tell me something bizarre that happened to you today. Tell me about a relative who's driving you crazy. Reflect on movies you've seen, or books you've read, or what bands/musicians you're currently listening to. Lately, I've also taken an interest in food and food culture, so if you could tell me about food that is unique to your region or your personal tastes, that would be cool. You could share a recipe if you want, although I am a terrible cook (this will hopefully change with your help).
