About Laura...

Moi, hello, hola, ciao, ahoj, salut, aloha from Finland!

My profile name Joki means river in Finnish, and since I really love walking in nature I thought it is a great profile name for me. In my avatar you can see a scenery from my favourite city in Finland, Tampere. I come from a small town located near Tampere but nowadays I live and study in southwest Finland.

My hobbies include photography, scrapbooking, collecting stamps, poetry, tea, music (The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Guns N' Roses), comics, and cooking. At the moment I am interested in Polish cuisine. My favourite writers are Bill Bryson, Paulo Coelho and Louisa May Alcott. I also like to travel, read maps, study railway timetables and get to know more about other cultures.

I enjoy studying languages and meeting new people. I've been always interested in different languages and I hope I can work as an interpreter and a translator in the future.
Please feel free to teach me something, greetings for instance, in your own language. But remember to write the translation as well!

I would like to hear about your daily life - what did you do today? What kind of books you like to read? (You can recommend books for me too! They can be your favourite books or books about your culture.)
You can also recommend a place to visit in your country or home town; I'm planning a train trip to Europe for next summer.

I love all kinds of cards, but if you can't decide which one to send, here's a little list of cards I would like to receive:

* Handmade cards, puzzle cards
* Especially pictures from your home town, city or village; museums, statues, street views, night views, castles; a place that is important for you or you'd like to show to your friend :)
* Old shabby cards you can find in flea markets
* Phone boxes, mailboxes, road etc. signs, underground/subway maps, maps in general, traditional musical instruments
* Black and white postcards of people - or something very colourful
* Traditional tourist cards ("Greetings from ~ " classical!)
* Cards with text in your own language (aphorisms, poems, etc)
* Pictures of birds, hedgehogs, old buildings, railway stations, trains, locomotives, Zdeněk Miler's Krtek-character, books, libraries, colourful and extraordinary flowers
* Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Easter cards

(Please no scary cards like Halloween cards, no sad pictures and no pervy cards. Ad cards? Hmm... Why not, if you happen to have those showing pictures of bands, information on festivals or gigs/events. Sorry for being picky. Thank you!)

-Laura
