Hello! My name is Gail, I'm 29 years old and I live in Dundee, the fourth largest city in Scotland. First I just want to explain about Scotland and the UK to avoid any confusion. The Postcrossing website states that I am a member from the 'United Kingdom', but that doesn't actually tell you which of the four countries of the United Kingdom I am from. It states that the UK itself is a 'country', with the capital city of London. This is incorrect, and it is making the mistake of confusing the 'UK' with England, which is *one* of the countries in the UK. There is no such thing as a country called the United Kingdom. This website also classifies Scotland as a 'region' of the UK, but again this is very inaccurate. The UK is a union of 4 countries, and Scotland is one of these countries, the other 3 are England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, Scotland is not an independent country (yet!), but it is certainly NOT a region of the UK - Scotland is a COUNTRY. To say that I come from the United Kingdom with a capital city of London, assumes that I come from England (a different country!), and this does not help people from other countries to understand the UK. I come from Scotland, and my capital city is Edinburgh! You don't need to write 'UK' on my postcards because Scotland is enough :)

Sorry for the big explanation, but it annoys me when the all of the countries of the UK are equated with England, when this is only one of four different countries grouped together. Hopefully I made it a bit clearer to understand...Anyway, back to my profile!...I've loved corresponding with penpals for more than 10 years, I really enjoy sending and receiving mail from all over the world, so I think that postcrossing is a really exciting idea, especially when you never know where you will receive the next postcard from! I also like travelling, cute stationery, music, movies, internet, and I'm soon going to try to learn a few more languages :)

I'd love to receive postcards showing pictures of different towns/cities/countries around the world. I also like postcards of birds, nice patterns/designs, and any cute characters! I'm looking forward to sending and receiving postcards! Happy postcrossing! :)
