Hello my name is Karen & I live quite happily for the moment in Melbourne. That said, receiving postcards so regularly now from all over the world is starting to revive a desire to experience life in another country some day.
"The world is an amazing place" - was once the tagline of a TV station in Australia, and I've always thought it described the 'world' very well. Thanks to postcrossing I now have the joy of sending pictures and well-wishes to random, far-flung people and places around the world. I like to write about aspects of Australia you may not have heard before - everyday experiences that don't make it onto Wikipedia and such-like :-).
Of course the reciprocal to this interest is that I love receiving postcards from different countries. Even though I have traveled quite a lot beyond Australia, there are many, many more countries than I could ever visit in my lifetime. So postcrossing offers the hope that I might at least 'touch' 200 + countries - even if only via a piece of cardboard paid for by a sticky piece of paper.
My favourite things are my friends and family of course. Beyond that: art, design, technology, science, clever ideas, interesting people, great weather, great places, great outdoor experiences, great travel,.. too many things to list really.
Postcard preferences: anything! quirky, beautiful scenery, provincial, arty, exotic. But seriously - no real preferences. Finding a postcard in the mailbox is always a pleasure :-).
