About Lynn...

Hello,

I enjoy collecting postcards of cities, scenery, historic sites, & Christmas! I also collect stamps, particularly commemorative.

I am a wife, mother, career woman; and yes, I try to do it all! I love animals, enjoy gardening, am an avid reader, & love photography.

My avatar is our new kittie, Belle, who was 6 wk old in the photo. Recently, she's come into her own, and can zoom around like her tail's on fire, a ball of unbridled energy! She loves the midnight hour & wakes us all up!!!

We also have a 15 yo long haired black cat, Nickel, who was rescued from a dumpster as a kitten. She still thinks she's a youngster, is adventurous, and very trusting- recently a neighbor's dog ran right through our screen door and our cat, after being momentarily startled, sidled over to greet her- a chase ensued, the house looked like a tornado struck (there were no canine, human or feline injuries, but I'm sorry to say that the mirror did not survive...). Nickel thinks Belle is crazy. Haha.

I've lived and worked all over Canada, including the Arctic Circle; my husband and I have also lived/worked in the U.S. We were in Victoria, BC, when Mt. St. Helen's erupted, witnessed the awesome power of nature! Slept under the Aurora Borealis, seen polar bears, wild caribou, musk ox, buffalo, wolves, and whales in their natural environment. My husband flew into Wood Buffalo Park to retrieve the head of a dead bison for the Smithsonian. So, I guess if we sound like wanderers, we have been...

But my heart has always been in Halifax, my birth city. The capital of Nova Scotia, home of my dear folks. Halifax has the 2nd largest natural harbor in the world, a wonderful waterfront for walking, running or just enjoying the sights. A vibrant student population keeps the city's nightlife hopping during most of the year; and there are 4 distinct seasons, always something to look forward to!

Halifax has known hardship and disaster in it's history; look up "The Halifax Explosion" for an interesting read, a moving tribute to the human spirit; how the wonderful people of Boston, Massachusetts came to our aid, and how we still keep up the tradition of sending them a Christmas tree each year as a special thankyou! (as an interesting aside, my grandmother told me that she was standing in her living room, holding her large cat in her arms when the ships collided; the explosions blew out the glass in her windows, & she ended up with a large piece in her neck, while the cat, which shielded her chest, was killed instantly; amazing that she wasn't blinded!)

Lastly, I became a postcrosser to collect stamps and postcards (a rather shallow goal), but having 'met' so many of you and enjoying all the stories, I realize that we can be ambassadors for a collective good- if not peace, at least a beginning friendship that celebrates our uniqueness.

Send me any card but tell me a bit about your life, a story, anything. And have an awesome day!!
