She has been a member for over 1 year (564 days).Work as a Freelance Stage Manager in the Live Theatre Industry. When not working, keep busy as a Mixed Media Artist.
I am a five minute walk from the beach at Brighton.
Like reading, movies, collecting old furniture (nothing matches in my home) and old china - if you have heard of the "crazy tea set" then I have the "crazy dinner service".
I have been collecting postcards since I was a nine year old. The discovery of "Postcrossing" was like finding hidden treasure !
Love Sunflowers - Van Gogh is my favorite artist, followed by Klimt and Monet. The quietest place in Adelaide is THE ART GALLERY of South Australia - where you a can sit in silence and see artists through their work. I firmly believe in supporting new and upcoming artists.
Have travelled overseas four times to date and hope to do so again. The dream destination - just to sit on the side of a mountain in Nepal.
With postcards I beleive in the KISS principal (Keep it simple stupid) and just ask for nothing but a simple postcard to be sent.
Some of my fellow postcrossers can be "fussy" only wanting an unwritten postcard and stamps on the envelope ! ! !
Not that doing so is a problem. However, a good reason like scrapbooking your cards inspires me, as I don't think of that as a hobby but an art form.
Further - "no ad" cards. I don't know about the rest of the world but here they are used to promote films, theatre and more importantly local artist. More so they are made of recycled paper - leaving only a little "Carbon Footprint".
I work in the theatre industry and as to promoting the artists of my country, it is a wonderful way to get their work seen around the world. Often giving insight into our country and culture that many of the postcards available commercially could never do.
I thought the whole fun of this was receiving a postcard and making some interesting friends.
I have to admit the best part of "Postcrossing" is the friends you make.
And if you receive a card from me and don't like it - sorry but please (with sugar and a cherry on top) register that you received it(including "ad cards"). Then let me know and I can maybe try to send something more to your liking. At the bottom of the world we do not have the wonderful range of postcards I often wish we had.
It was all trial and error to begin with. Now my journey has begun.
May it continue to be the journey of a lifetime......this is the next great adventure.
