About Bettylou...

Hello friend!

I am Bettylou; wife, mother, dog lover, outdoor enthusiast, photographer, passionate cook, yoga and mindfulness practitioner, vegetarian, avid reader, art lover, and self proclaimed full-time student of L I F E.

I have lived in Michigan all my life but have been fortunate to travel a few places abroad. (Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, England, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Finland.) Someday I hope to visit more of the world and I would greatly enjoy traveling to Japan, China, Korea, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Norway, Spain, and MORE! I am deeply interested in the cultures and customs of other countries and learning about the world excites me!

I love nature and the quiet of being immersed completely within it whether hiking, camping, kayaking, or simply sitting outside while meditating. There is great beauty all around us and sometimes I find it in the most simple of settings; like a sunrise, the slow drift of fog across a field, or the crashing waves upon a rocky shoreline.

Reading is a well loved past time that I also sincerely enjoy. Whether it be a memoir, title of history, or renowned piece of poetry or fiction; I find it all interesting and a wonderful respite from the business of everyday life. Have you read anything noteworthy as of late?

Art moves me deeply and will always be something that is extremely important in my life. On most trips you can find me wandering through art museums and looking for works that are new to me or pieces that I have always wanted to see in person. I enjoy all types of fine art from classical to contemporary but my favorites are the impressionists.

Postcards that I would greatly enjoy receiving:
Nature [especially mountains, trees, bodies of water]
Art [classic or contemporary, all mediums]
Historical in nature
Travel [love backpacking]
Black & White Photography
Architecture, especially iconic buildings
Something particularly reflective of where you live

Don't worry if you cannot find something specific to my list, Just receiving mail from you will be exciting and fun!

Please write a little more than just "Happy Postcrossing".
If you don't know what to write, tell me a little about yourself, your day, your city/the area you live in, your job, whatever is important to you. Maybe share your favorite quote with me or write a line or two in your native language and include the translation in English.

Be sure to include the postcard ID and it would be helpful if you could also note the date you are writing.

I look forward to hearing from you!
Betty
