About Arianne...
I am a Canadian photographer, artist and full time student, currently living on a small island on the west coast of the USA.
I prefer postcards which are unique-- and especially cards which show something about the sender.
The only cards that I generally don't like to receive are the 'typical touristy' types-- viewcards, etc.
Any of these cards will make me really happy:
Tacky/campy postcards (either featuring old ad campaigns, vintage film publicity shots or 1920s-1960s celebrities-- anything in poor taste/questionable/funny is welcome!)
Pin up art (if it was originally used in advertising or military, all the better!)
Retro Advertisements/Film Promotions
Black and white photographs
The moon-- especially with winter landscapes.
Postcards featuring textiles (fabric, fibre, ceramics, beads etc)
Anything to do with knitting or crochet (I love Amigurumi!)
Beautiful scripts (Persian, Russian-- really anything that is unusual compared to English script)
Wartime photography
Gargoyles
Line drawings
Hearts
Cassette Tapes
Badgers
Fashion drawings (here's an example: http://excentrique2.blogspot.com/2009/09/let-them-dance.html)
Coffee
Postcards showing street photography (life captured unaware)
Anything that seems like it may be out of a Lovecraft novel (here's an example: http://www.lovecraftcountry.com/images/wallpapers/Lovecraft1_1024x768.jpg)
Unique airports or train stations
Chickens
Pugs
Persian Art
Anything related to women in history
If you're a crafty person, please feel free to send a handmade card!
If you are not sure of what to write:
Names-- it would be great to hear the meaning or history of your name (first, surname or both!), maybe why your parents chose it for you.
I love quotes and poems-- if you are moved to include one on your post card, I would be thrilled.
Have a look at the Post-Secret project: http://www.postsecret.com/
If you would like to send me a secret on a postcard, I would love it. Of course, I would not publish any information about your 'secrets' on this site.
I love interesting words-- in all languages! If you could choose one word to describe yourself, what would it be and why?
What is one important lesson that you have learned in your life?
Tell me something about an interesting book that you have read recently-- I am always looking for suggestions on what to read next.
If you have traveled recently, I would love to hear about interesting places/accommodations/restaurants/experiences.
If you knit silly things (like I do) a knitting pattern would be fun if you're really stuck on what to write.
Please have a peek at my favourite postcards-- there are quite a few.
