Helston is famous for the Furry Dance (or Floral Dance) held in early May and is birthplace of Bob Fitzsimmons, the first British born World Heavy weight Boxing Champion. Also RNAS Culdrose, the largest helicopter base in Europe and Goonhilly satellite station where the first live satellite TV pictures from USA were received in UK.
