About Simon...

Hello, my name is Simon, and i live in Cheshire, about 35 miles south of Manchester, in England. I'm married to a wonderful wife, and have a wonderful son, who has severe learning difficulties. My time is mostly taken up by my work, and caring for our very special son.

I drive trains for a living, which is a job i absolutely love. No two days are the same, and it's very rewarding to have an ever-scrolling view from your window, and to see some beautiful scenery too.

My passion is to travel with my family, and share the experiences, and cultures of different countries. We have a special fondness for the United States, as we find their attitude towards children with learning difficulties is far more sympathetic than other countries, not least, our own.

I have a great sense of humour, and i'm fascinated by not just my own mother tongue, but by all languages. I very much applaud anyone who learns english as a second language, as our idiosynchrasies are entirely in a league of their own!

I don't think it's fair to demand certain postcards/stamps etc, so i'm not going to. However, just to give you an idea of some themes that would be of interest to me, and i'll leave the rest up to you.

A favourite landmark from your country.
American presidents.
1950's Americana.
US landmarks.
Australian landmarks.
US State Capitals- State Slogans, State number plates etc.

I would be very interested to learn of any sayings/proverbs that are specific to your language/region, and if you've learnt english as a second language, what you found easier/harder than your own language.

Thank you in advance, and looking forward to hearing from you.
