About VLADA...

Hi there, Postcrosser!

I've found my grandparents' collection of stamps recently. Some of them were dated of early 1920s.
And I thought “How cool that would be if my grandkids would find my collection of postcards with stamps in the year of 2101, for example!” Of course, together with the original collection of stamps from the 20th century.
So, this is how started this small hobby.

I’m 27 now. Occupied in exporting the goods of Ukrainian manufacture. Twice married. No kids yet, but hope to start working on that next year.

I like travelling. Not only because it’s fun. That’s obvious. But also because travelling opens one’s mind, helping to think outside the box when there’s such a need in life. I’ve been to the USA, India, France, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt and of course around Ukraine.

The most exotic and extreme trips I’ve made were to Chernobyl (UA) and Chelyabinsk (RU).
Chernobyl because the trip was illegal and highly challenging. It was a very hard journey on foot and hard mentally. With hiding from police in the bushes and forests; fighting homeless dogs; hearing wolve’s yawling at midnight; drinking water from puddles and basements of half-destroyed houses; sleeping in abandoned 16-storied buildings in Pripyat, in apartments where in April of 1986 lived some regular families with their daily routines.
And Chelyabinsk because the only things I had with me were 2 tickets, back and forth, and almost zero money. The person I was flying to let me down. So there I was, in the middle of the Urals, at 9 p.m., under a pouring rain with snow, with a ticket back home in 4 days and 20 dollars on me cash.
Anyway, I’m proud I’ve gone through all that.

I have a cat. And I love cats! They are so cute, fluffy and sustainable. It so happened that I have lots of stuff with cats: cups, pictures, home décor, clothes, jewelry etc. Looks like I’m collecting those, even though I have never had a particular intention to do that. And I still don’t. But the quantity of cats at home keeps growing. I also have a real cat, Zhirniy (translation: fat dude). He also keeps growing, but with fat. He’s adorable.

That’s more than enough about me, I guess.

I just wanted you to share with you some of my feelings and views.
Because each Postcrosser is a real person, with a beating heart, a soul and a story behind.
