About Simone...

Dear visitor,

Goedendag en welkom op mijn account! (Good day and welcome on my account!:-))
Let me introduce myself.
I'm Simone Koster, a history student in the beautiful city of Leiden. Leiden has an interesting history and beautiful monuments+ museums. The university where I study was founded in 1575 by prince 'Willem van Oranje' (William of Orange). It was a reward for the loyalty and braveness of the city during a besiege of the Spaniards in 1574 (during the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish King Philip II). Although there was a great famine and pestilence the city did not surrender. On October 3 the city was liberated by the 'watergeuzen' (sea beggars). This joyful event is till this day happily comemorated and celebrated on october 3.
When I'm studying I live in Katwijk at sea. But my parents live in Zeeland, in the south of the Netherlands, so there I spend most of my time. Zeeland is very beautiful with lots of beautiful farms and nice old cities, like Veere and Middelburg. Me myself live in the beautiful, small village, Borssele, on the countryside.

On my picture you see me in the traditional costume of the Bevelanden (part of our province Zeeland). Actually, it's the man costume;-) (They did not have enough men to wear the costumes.;-))

I would love to tell much more about our beautiful country and amazing history, but it's quite a long story;-)

I love foreign countries and their history/culture! Unfortunately travelling is very expensive, but postcrossing is also a very nice way to learn something about foreign countries!

I like any kind of postcard, but would appreciate cards with views of your home-country, place or traditions. (or even better pictures of historical monuments, places or persons in your country/place)
Thanks a lot in advance. I look forward to your postcard!
Happy postcrossing and all the best!

Kind regards(vriendelijke groeten) from the beautiful Netherlands,
Simone Koster
