Hello there, it's Yulia :) I live in Maryland which is considered Capital area of the US (Washington DC area). I also lived in Russia and Australia.
I've decided to rewrite my "about" 'cause it seemed very imprecise and I often got cards completely out of my taste.
What I love on the postcards (having in mind they are all quality images ;)):
* Giraffes
* Dolls
* Paintings (classy ones, no aggressive vanguard, please), plus australian and african paintings that I'm especially in love with... like http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/AU-37763
* Beautiful beaches, boats and everything relative... smth like http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/AU-38061 - landscapes, that really make you want to travel!
* The Moomins
* Street sights (NOT city sights!) like http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/CN-58116 or http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/PT-74891, or http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/GR-4936 (I luuuuve italian, spanish and mexican architecture)
* Conceptual images like http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/US-361424 or http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/LT-27937 or http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/NL-146063
* Bridges, lanterns, doors, windows - all chic and amazing (NOT sloppy snapshots everybody can take on the go)
* Inspiring portraits of people like http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/GB-18550

* These "bubbies" http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/FI-497833
* Images of turtles (long life), geckos (curiosity), owls (wisdom)
* Handmade cards (real ones, effortful... I don't consider cut-and-paste kindergarten-craft-like style cards true handmade, hands down!)
Well, if you take one minute to go to my favorites, then it'll be clear what I like :)
What I DO NOT appreciate
* City sights (especially multiview) - not at all. It's enough feed for me to see it in the net, and I'm good :))
* Cards without a picture (some phrase across it)
* Faded, blurred (except for purposeful art effect), color-noisy images
* Flowers (unless it's exceptionally cool, for example very good macro)
* Pets (unless it's conceptual, has The Idea and is composed awesome
* Handmade (see descriptions above)
* Free and advertising cards - let's recycle, guys ;)
What else, hmmm... I seem pretty picky, well I guess I am... Since I try to read about and send the cards like people like, I expect to recieve the same :)
I LOOOOOOOVE cards without envelopes, with nice authentic stamps, and hand-written. Write something in your language, that would be COOOL!!! And write your name, please! I kinda feel weird, registering card and saying common Hi... friend? :)
