About Magnus...

Hey all- I'm Mag and I live about a half-hour north of Washington, DC. I'm 34 and married to http://www.postcrossing.com/user/mrmustang; we live with family and have a cat but no kids. :) For almost eleven years I worked in a book and music store, but it closed in September of 2011, and so now I'm working in the very early mornings supervising the guys who stock freezer, cooler, and dry grocery in a health and natural foods grocery store. I also work part-time at the local library, and we have a family business making plush creatures out of socks.

The place where we live is a historic mill town that is filled with art and antique shops, and the river that once powered the mill runs around, through, and even under it. Buildings are built on bridges that span streams feeding into the river, and every time they tear up the main road to repair it you can see water running only a few feet below the ground. We tend to flood during bad hurricanes, and there are markers on the railroad bridge at the edge of town showing where the city has been under 10, 14, or even 21 feet of water during particularly bad storms.

I'm a fan of heavy metal and stupid crime movies. I cook, I play video games, and I read a lot of books about biology, genetics, and the natural world in my spare time.
