About Knoes...

Hi,

I am Dutch, but currently living in Belgium. I like Belgium, but I am still trying to adjust to all the strange Belgium habits, even after three years... Before I was living in Morocco, where the differences with the Dutch culture were much bigger than right now here in Belgium, but in a way it was easier to adjust to the life and culture there than here. Subtle differences are more difficult to grasp, probably.

When it comes to earning money: my job is to help people find a job (even though some of them don't want to work :-)). It's really nice to meet all kinds of people at work day after day and hear all their different stories. Every day there are things that amaze me (but things that are frustrating as well ;)).

Travelling is one of the things that I love to do (but the money, the money). New places, new people, new cultures... And music gives a glance to everything. I often go to concerts (lofi, indie, singer songwriter) and festivals. Besides that I try to spend enough time reading. I really enjoy the smell of the pages of a good book. But ofcourse a picknick with friends in the parc on a sunny day or a warm evening in a nice café on a cold rainy day are also high on my list of things I like to do.

I've been doing postcrossing for almost a year now, and when I think back of all the cards that I've received, the ones that come to mind first and most strongly are the ones with personal notes and stories on the back. Some people really gave me a glance in their world; they shared some thoughts, small or big, dreams, worries, inspiring stories, etc. This really touched my heart. So, if you would like to share something on the back of the card, I would really, really appreciate it! But if you don't, it's ok as well ofcourse. If you do like to write something but don't have any inspiration, I would love to hear about the one thing that has been on your mind the last few days, or about your dreams for the future!

I've learned in these 9 postcrossing months that people appreciate some indications on likes and dislikes when it comes to the cards. I like cards that have something to do with crossing cultural or ethnic 'bounderies', images of street art, anything islam related, images that inspire one way or another or something in line with the cards in my favourites. I'm not so fond of ad cards and view cards. I am aware of the fact that my likes are not easy to meet, so of course any card that you'll send me will be appreciated.

I'm looking forward to hear from you! Thanks in advance for taking the time to send me a card :)
