About Jodie...
Hello! My name is Jodie and I live in Canberra, Australia.
I LOVE postcards!
My husband calls me a postcard-aholic because every time we travel overseas I spend hours writing postcards to my friends and family back in Australia (and Postcrossing friends all around the world!) and sometimes days searching for postoffices in obscure locations. I love stamps too!
As you can probably see from my favourites, I like ALL kinds of postcards so whatever your favourite type is, I'm sure to love it too! If you can't decide, then something from your town, state, region or country would be great (I love them all). Please write something on the back - anything you want! Or draw something - that would be great too! I really like authentic "travelled" postcards with stamps and a postmark on the back, if possible.
If you prefer to send more unusual cards rather than something from your home town then that's good too. Here are some of the more unusual, quirky or out of the ordinary things that I like: tulip fields, Indian saris, South American textiles, windmills, zebras, elephants, giraffes, meerkats, polar bears, wolves, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, lightening, Snoopy (from Peanuts comics), Tweety (from Looney Toons cartoons), Seasame Street, Shakespeare, Che Guevara, Nelson Mandella, sunsets, rainbows, Chinese calligraphy, dance, musical instruments, musicians, raindrops, autumn leaves, photographic potraits of people from around the world and modern art. I also like postcards that promote travel or charities like Lonely Planet, Gecko, World Wildlife Foundation, Humane Society, Amnesty and Medecins Sans Frontieres.
One more special request: I work with the Australian Parliament so I'm also interested in postcards showing Parliament buildings, Prime Ministers, Presidents and other country leaders.
I really only speak English well but I have friends who can read French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Indonesian, Japanese and Danish so they would be happy to translate for me. (In fact, my Danish friend would LOVE to translate for me so Danish is most welcome! French too!)
One of my dreams is to collect a postcard from every country in the world. I'm getting there but I still have a LONG way to go!
Best wishes
Jodie
