My name is Mira and I'm 21 years old. I come from Finland but currently I live in Iceland. I work in a beautiful place called Sólheimar("Homes of the Sun"). It's an eco-community, originally founded for children with special needs. Nowadays there are 100 people living here, about 40 mentally handicapped adults plus the staff. The village is surrounded by mountains, fields, peace and silence. It's about 100km from the capital, Reykjavík. I'm in charge of the weavery workshop in the village. I do weavery, knitting, crocheting and other textile arts together with the handicapped people.
I’m a peace-loving, happy and colourful person, but mainly just a shy and silly daydreamer. I enjoy walking in the nature, going to galleries, wandering in strange cities, listening to wonderful music and letting my mind fly, watching people and smiling to strangers and making people's dreams come true.
I'm a hardcore Do-It-Yourself-person. I spend all my money and time with felting, ceramics, sewing, knitting, textile printing, book binding, all kinds of crazy crafty projects. I love colours, shapes, prints and patterns.
Other things I adore: languages, cultures, FC Liverpool, music, green values, sunflowers, pandas, feminism, accents, museums of contemporary art, handwritten letters, travelling, good design, random acts of kindness, the smell of old books, everything vintage and retro, Postsecret and second hand shops.
You would make my day by sending me a panda postcard. I collect them! As a future artist I would also like art-related cards of any kind, especially ones you have bought from an exhibition you have visited. And do I need to say my opinion of handmade cards? However, any card you like yourself is welcome!
It would be very lovely if you could tell me a little story in the postcard. You don't need to introduce yourself as I can read all that in your profile when I register the card, so just tell me something amazing or something terrible that has happened lately, or maybe an old memory or a dream you wish to come true. If you're not a type of storyteller, you can also tell me how to say "I love you" in your language or draw something! :)
