About Ruan...

Hi to all postcrossers!

My name is Ruan; I am 32 years old and just a normal fun-loving guy. I live in South Africa, about 50kms east of our largest city, Johannesburg.

I am really looking forward to receiving your postcards from all over the globe.

I am easy to please: I like the typical tourist postcards. Just send me a card of the one thing that I have to see when I visit your country or region. This way I can get a sense of what it is like where you live.

Please have a look at my favourites wall, this should give you a good idea about the type of cards that I like.

In case you need some more guidelines, here are some ideas of what I might like:

- SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL like extraordinary natural scenery such as mountains, beaches, islands, canyons, volcanoes, rainforests, sunsets, and the like.
- I love WATERFALLS so if there are any where you live, this would be a great idea.
- SOMETHING CULTURAL like indigenous peoples, national costumes, local traditions or cultural scenes.
- SOMETHING HISTORICAL like national heroes, historic pictures or important monuments or historic buildings.
- SOMETHING ARTSY like famous artworks or unusual architecture, or famous artists, even maybe something not-so-famous.
- SOMETHING WILD like unique wildlife or animals or endangered species.
- SOMETHING UNUSUAL - just surprise me!

I'm normally not very keen on multiview cards with a multidude of small pictures because I can't see anything in detail and one picture would have been more than sufficient. Also I'm not very fond of different-country cards, i.e. from one country but showing a picture from a different country, for example a card from Japan showing the Eiffel Tower. I am sure there must be something interesting enough in your own country to show me.

JUST ONE REQUEST: I would prefer my cards written on and stamped, even if it has a few transit marks or bends and scratches. I don't mind these at all as it tells the story of the long journey it took in reaching me. (And an interesting stamp would also be nice..)

And please write something, anything at all, so that I may get to know a little about you through your postcard.

But anyhow, I'm sure that your choice for me will be perfect, so go ahead and surprise me!
