Early today we’ve reached 13 million postcards! Congratulations everyone! They seem to be coming faster and faster these days! :)
We’d like to feature a couple of designers who are also postcrossers, and have used their talents to create postcards especially for the project.
We discovered Alex’s (aka Shurkala) postcards by accident, but were immediately in awe of his skills! Alex told us that the postcards were born of an experiment with typography and combining digital vector drawing with watercolor. He’s very happy with the results, and started printing and selling his postcards on Shurkenberg, his Etsy shop.
The second designer, Femke (aka Mevrouwtjetheelepel) is a product designer from the Netherlands. Her mother, sister and aunts are also very active postcrossers so she created the 'Holland’ postcard for them to send it to other postcrossers around the world. It’s a beautiful card, filled with all kinds of things which we associate with The Netherlands:
We spent a good deal of time going through all the items, laughing at the unexpected ones :) You can check out this and other postcards made by Femke on her site (Dutch).

Postcrossing is a source of inspiration! Love these!
creativity and such interest are in Romania as well. I recently met people, postcrossers involved in designing postcards and stamps. They are doing a great job. So I think your wonderful idea gets more and more fruits. Me personally: thank you, I am enjoying it, it stimulated me and brought me joy. It's wonderful. I am just going to another "writing postcards"-session! ☺

Love the Dutch card! As a Belgian I'm claiming ownership of that frietje though :) Vla would be something quintessentially Dutch that could be added.
I have the Holland souvenirs postcard from Femke (aka Mevrouwtjetheelepel) I love it. I took it to work to show off. It would be perfect to take to school for show and tell but #08 would be frowned upon at school.

Congratulations 13,000,000! The second design is excellent, cards of special gadgets and souvenirs are especially popular among postcrossers. How about putting those little things in order of the Dutch flag according to their colour?
Lovely and unique postcards. But, sadly, for some picky postcrossers, will be "those horrible hand-made or self-printed postcards".

I have received the Dutch card and loved it! I didn't expect something like this, with so many details to see carefully, think and read and I was happily surprised! It made me want to travel again in Netherlands to observe the items I hadn't paid attention to! Well done Femke!

Lucky 13 million and still going. Terrific. Congratulations, everyone! Postcards are difficult to find, for those of us in certain areas, and I like sending ones directly from where I am...so I'm experimenting by having my favorite photos made into cards. I think many postcrossers will agree that the personal messages on the cards can be the best and very special part of the exchange.
